Scheduled Tasks

Scheduled Tasks run an agent on a recurring cadence or when data refreshes, then deliver the result to Slack. In Sundial, open Scheduled in the sidebar, or go to /agent/scheduled.

Progressive rollout

Scheduled Tasks are rolling out progressively to customer workspaces. Ask your Sundial contact if you do not see Scheduled yet.

Scheduled Tasks were previously called Notification Triggers.

Create a schedule

From Scheduled, select + Create to open New schedule. Each schedule gets its own URL that you can bookmark or share with a teammate who has access.

Configure:

  • Name: a clear name for the recurring task.
  • Cadence: choose Daily, Weekly and a day of the week, or Monthly and a day from 1–31.
  • Trigger: run On data refresh, or At a set time on a five-minute grid. For a set time, Sundial uses the editor's timezone and shows it as a read-only value.
  • Instructions: the prompt the agent runs. Include any conditions for skipping delivery so quiet days stay quiet.
  • Delivers to: channels in your connected Slack workspace where @sundial is present.

You need the same permission used to manage semantics to create or edit a schedule.

Manage a schedule

A schedule's detail strip shows its Status (Active or Paused), Cadence, Trigger, Next run, Delivers to channels, and Owner. Edit its settings inline, or select Run now to start a manual run.

Below the schedule, run history can be filtered by All, Scheduled, Automated, or Manual:

  • Scheduled means the schedule's clock started the run.
  • Automated means a data refresh started the run.
  • Manual means someone selected Run now.

Open a run to view its conversation. Its answer appears in a Result panel, or as Nothing sent when the agent followed the instructions and chose not to post to Slack.
